Troubleshooting

Ovid provides meaningful error messages and troubleshooting options throughout your search session.

Login Failure Notice

Ovid displays a login failure notice if your login attempt is not successful.

Login failures occur due to one of the following conditions:

To remedy, try to log in again.

Contact Ovid Customer Support for continuous login errors.

Idle Time Limit

Ovid sessions have a default time limit known as the idle time limit.

If you do not interact with the Ovid interface for a certain period of time, Ovid logs you off automatically, returns to the login page, and displays an error message.

Ovid's Idle Time limit prevents unnecessary use of an Ovid user license.

Idle Time Exceeded

Ovid displays a warning message to notify and remind you of the Idle Time Limit.

Ovid's default idle time limit is one hour and fifteen minutes. Contact your site administrator to change the idle time limit in your site.

You may recover your last session upon your next login if Ovid's Session Recovery has been enabled in your site.

Search Recovery

If your search session times out or you close your browser, you may want to recover your work. With Ovid's Search Recovery enabled, Ovid displays a Restore Last Session dialog when you log in.

Click Yes, Restore Session to recover your work.

You must log back into Ovid within 72 hours to use this feature. If you log back in within 6 hours, you can recover your search strategy and results. If you log in between 6 and 72 hours after the original session, you can recover the search strategy only.

If you were using a PIN account, you must log into the PIN account again to recover your search.

You must use the same browser and device as the original session to use Search Recovery.

Contact your site administrator if you would like Search Recovery to be enabled in your site. You can't use the Search Recovery and Session Recovery features together.

Session Recovery

If your search session times out, you may want to recover your work. With Ovid's Session Recovery enabled, Ovid opens a Session Recovery Page when you log in.

From this page, you may access the session you were previously working on or start a new session.

Contact your site administrator if you would like session recovery to be enabled in your site.
